Our Story: Ka Tunying’s Café Journey

It all started with a small panaderya (bakery) in Nueva Ecija called Tunying’s Kape, Tinapay Atbp. The name of the bakery is a tribute to Antonio Taberna Sr., the father of the owner; the well known Filipino broadcast journalist and radio commentator- Antonio Taberna Jr.; also known as Tunying. Tunying and his wife Rossel Velasco- Taberna share their love for pastries that rooted their dream to build their own bakeshop.

As Tunying’s Bread gained popularity and became in demand in the metro, the couple decided to raise the business up a notch. This brought about the birth of the two-storey Ka Tunying’s at 88 Visayas Avenue, Quezon City. It was established on August 21, 2015. As their market grew, they offered a wide array of Filipino food; a menu that will surely make you miss your hometown and luto ni nanay.

One of KT’s signature breakfasts is Bototay Longsilog- using Cabanatuan’s signature Bototay. Who wouldn’t miss nanay’s merienda espesyal- the Arroz caldo? KT’s Arroz a la Tunying is a classic and a best seller. Also, you can taste a dash of pinoy fiesta food which can be shared with your family and friends like Ka Tunying’s favorite; Pancit ni Nanay Benny and Rossel’s comfort food; Ukoy. KT also innovates Filipino food fusions like Kalabasa Lasagna, Tinapa Carbonara, etc.

From the hot to cold beverages, from the strong aroma of barako coffee to the refreshing Palamig Series; from luscious chocolatey beverages to detoxifying greens- KT has it all for you!

With the growing number of our kababayans’ requests worldwide and inside our country, the Taberna power couple did all they could to put up other branches in malls and airports.

Ka Tunying’s Café couldn’t be stopped from spreading their sumptuous Pinoy cuisine with a twist. KT later on invaded south and gave the southeners a smile on their faces before flying to their respective destinations, because the newest branches are located at NAIA Terminal 3 and NAIA Terminal 2.

Successively, KT gained its popularity after being featured in various Lifestyle TV shows. The Tabernas are now looking forward to venturing into franchising their growing restaurant.

Ka Tunying’s will never stop spreading the love for Filipino food and Filipino culture here in the country and abroad.
